Capital, in context.

Personal investing, enterprise and connected markets.

Personal investing & research

China A-shares

My personal investing in Chinese listed companies connects an interest in business performance with industry change, policy and market sentiment.

I look at changes in market expectations alongside what a business can deliver.

Questions I explore

  1. What is driving growth: customer demand, policy or changing expectations?
  2. How do earnings, cash flow and valuation expectations fit together?
  3. How do the industry cycle, competition and financing conditions change the risks?

01

Start with what creates value.

My perspective begins with who values a product, how that value becomes cash flow, and what a price requires from the future.

02

Place the asset in its wider setting.

Policy, rates, competition, market rules and liquidity shape opportunities and risks. I am interested in how these forces interact across businesses and markets.

03

Make uncertainty part of the judgement.

A view should make clear what is observed, what is expected and what would change it. Good judgement includes recognising the limits of the available information.
